The future might be bleak in terms of a democratic government as caste could play a vital role in the way politics would shape up in the days to come.
In a rather interesting statement made by deputy CM Chinarajappa, he has confessed that he was given the post only due to caste equations. He says he was given the post as he belongs to the Kapu community.
Speaking at the Kapu Nadu organized at Eluru, another Kapu leader BL Narasimha Rao made it clear that though Chandra Babu Naidu was the CM of the state, as far as the Kapus were concerned, Chinarajappa was their CM.
The Kapu leaders reiterated that no political party can come to power in the state without the support of their community. They also pointed out that the BJP-TDP alliance came to power only due to their support and campaigning of Pawan Kalyan. They put in a demand that the Kapus must be provided reservation within a year and half.
While caste politics are not good for a healthy state, they seem to be inevitable given the present times. But political analysts feel such public display of social allegiances might prove costly in the long run.
