Will BJP Change Stand on Telangana?

BJP national president Rajnath Singh has decided to make a surprise visit to Andhra Pradesh on October 16, fuelling speculations that his party might revise its strategy on the Telangana statehood issue.

It is learnt that he would make a study of the Seemandhra agitation and discuss the strategy to be adopted by the party in the changed scenario.

The Telangana Bill is most likely to be tabled during the winter session of Parliament and the support of BJP is essential for the Bill to be passed.

Sources, however said Rajnath will discuss with the top leadership on the Telagnana issue. He will also discuss the forthcoming strategy for general elections with the party leadership in the state.

Since there has been a division in leaders on the formation of separate BJP units following the bifurcation he will take opinion from various leaders on the need to start a separate unit or not in the wake of bifurcation.
