The way media, particularly television channels, gave huge hype to Power Star Pawan Kalyan in his launch of a political party – Jana Sena—has taken several media analysts by surprise.
Even former Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy did not get the required coverage in the media when he launched his political party – Jai Samaikyandhra – at Rajahmundry a couple of days ago.
But on Friday, the channels went overboard in giving coverage to Pawan Kalyan since morning itself. And even after the conclusion of the programme, the channels continued to repeat the telecast of his speech in the name of analysis.
And on Saturday, a couple of Telugu newspapers owing allegiance to the Telugu Desam Party gave massive coverage to Pawan’s speech (Andhra Jyothy carried full text of his speech in two pages), though the speech itself was totally hollow and lacked any substance.
There is a hush talk that Pawan Kalyan had bought telecast time in several channels, which is why he could get so much coverage. And of course, channels also vied with one another for increase in TRP ratings in highlighting Pawan!
