It has been nearly three weeks since the results of the Telangana assembly elections were declared and the Congress party suffered ignominious defeat in the hands of Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
But till date, the Telangana Congress party has not made any comprehensive review of the poll outcome and deliberated on what went wrong for the party.
Though the Congress leaders have been making individual statements expressing their views on the debacle, there was no detailed analysis of the reasons for their poor performance.
Particularly, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N Uttam Kumar Reddy has never made any attempt to own up the responsibility.
Before the elections, Uttam told the media at a meet-the-press programme that he would take the responsibility for the victory or defeat of the Congress party in the assembly elections.
But after the party’s miserable performance in the elections, Uttam has virtually forgotten his challenge.
Instead of taking the responsibility for the party’s debacle, he sought to throw the blame on the Electronic Voting Machines and irregularities by the ruling TRS in the elections. Till date, he has not sent any comprehensive report to the AICC.
Interestingly, Uttam also challenged that he would not remove his beard till he brought the Congress to power in the state.
Now that the party has lost the elections badly, Uttam has no option but to continue with his beard!
