Why is Naidu so aggressive against Modi?

The way Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu went so aggressive against Bharatiya Janata Party in general and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in particular at the Monday’s Tirupati meeting generated a lot of debate in the media circles on Tuesday.

Hitherto, Naidu had been confined to questioning Modi for not granting special category status to AP and not implementing the promises made in AP Reorganisation Act.

He used to say that he had nothing personal against the BJP and Modi but was only demanding what was due to the state legitimately. He refrained from making any hard hitting attacking on the party and the PM so far.

But at Monday’s Tirupati meeting, Naidu went all out against the BJP and Modi. He accused Modi of being communal and a divisive force.

He referred to attacks on Dalits and minorities and atrocities on women in the last few years and questioned Modi’s silence in this regard.

He made a specific mention of Kathua incident, in which a minor girl was allegedly raped by Hindu funamentalists.

Naidu went to the extent of announcing that his objective was to pull down the Narendra Modi government at the Centre and declaring that his party is going to decide the next Prime Minister.

He even alleged that the BJP was colluding with YSR Congress Party tainted with corruption to suppress the TDP.

“I am fighting against Narendra Modi and the centre,” Naidu declared and called upon the Telugu voters in Karnataka not to vote for the BJP in the ongoing elections.

May be Naidu wanted to give an impression that he had completely cut off from the BJP. At the same time, it is meant to pre-empt the Modi government from targeting him in the name of CBI inquiry, so that people would think he is being targeted for coming out of the NDA.

At the same time, Naidu wants to convey to the people that the YSRC was joining hands with the BJP, which had done injustice to AP!
