Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is most likely to dissolve the state assembly soon after the forthcoming monsoon session and go for early elections.
During his recent meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, KCR is learnt to have indicated that he is willing to advance the assembly elections, irrespective of whether the NDA goes in for early elections to Lok Sabha.
And the Prime Minister is said to have given his nod for the same. KCR also discussed the same with Governor E S L Narasimhan soon after his return from Delhi.
The Congress party in Telangana has also got an indication to this effect from Delhi. Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy told a section of media that KCR might go in for assembly elections in December. It would mean, he might dissolve the assembly in September end or October first week.
“We are ready for the battle. In fact, the visit of Rahul Gandhi to Telangana on Monday and Tuesday is only to kick start the election campaign,” Uttam said.
The question is why KCR wants early elections to the assembly?
According to the TRS sources, if elections to Telangana are held along with other states like Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, the national parties like the Congress and the BJP would be focussing on these states and they might not be able to pay much attention to Telangana.
Secondly, KCR is of the view that the atmosphere is conducive for the ruling TRS now, as there are good rains and farmers are happy with the recent Rythu Bandhu scheme.
The first phase of Kaleshwaram project is going to be completed by October and so will be Mission Bhagiratha. The 2BHK scheme is under brisk pace of implementation.
Before the opposition parties gear up themselves and launch an onslaught on other issues like unemployment, rising prices and lack of remunerative prices, it would be better create an election mood in the state, so that people would focus on them and forget their real issues.
