It is really amusing to see Chandrababu Naidu arrange a special flight for Pawan Kalyan to come and meet him, especially when he has recently given instructions to his cabinet and government officials to strictly cut down on spending.
By giving Pawan Kalyan such special treatment, Naidu is making him a great leader which is really hilarious. But what is the reason behind Naidu’s strategy? It is caste equations in AP following the bifurcation.
After bifurcation, the Kapu community has emerged as the largest in AP and they have no leader who has the stature to become a CM. Therefore, their votes are exceedingly important for any political party hopeful of coming to power.
In fact, Vangaveeti Ranga was probably the only Kapu politician who could have gone on to become CM had he been alive. Since then, there has been no credible leader for the Kapus at the state level.
Chiranjeevi emerged as a huge sea of expectations for them only to leave them utterly disheartened and disillusioned with his colossal failure in politics. Therefore, Pawan Kalyan is the only leader with a charisma for them now. And Naidu knows that having Pawan on his side and keeping him humored would be in the best interests of TDP.
Otherwise it is quite a comedy to see a politician like Chandrababu with national prominence wooing an actor like Pawan Kalyan whose fame is restricted to AP and whose achievements as a politician are zero to date.
Had it not been for the caste equation, forget a chartered plane; Naidu probably wouldn’t even buy an RTC ticket from Hyderabad to Vijayawada for Pawan Kalyan.
