Andhra Pradesh chief minister is repeating history by announcing that he will release white papers on six issues including human resources, irrigation, power, infrastructure, finance and bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
Way back in 1994, during late NTR’s term as chief minister, Chandra Babu Naidu handled the twin portfolios of finance and revenue. At that time, he had released a white paper explaining the financial condition of the state.
Later, Babu became the chief minister and decided to make some key changes in the way the state was run. So, he made an effort to explain the situation and the statistics of various departments by issuing white papers. Babu then decided to do away with prohibition and the Rs 2 kilo rice scheme to improve the finances of the state.
Naturally, increasing the price of rice to Rs 5 per kilo and lifting of ban on belt shops led to severe criticism. But Babu did not budge and went ahead with the changes.
Now, he is once again talking of releasing white papers. Many are anticipating that Babu might use the process to go back on some of his pre-poll promises.
Political analysts are awaiting his explanation before jumping to conclusions.
