Those who have been closely observing ongoing debates in the media over denial of special category status to Andhra Pradesh can notice some so-called intellectuals and activists adopting a strange stand.
Take for example, Andhra intellectual forum convenor Chalasani Srinivas, who is presently heading the Pratyeka Hoda Sadhana Samithi (Committee to achieve special category status); actor Sivaji, CPI leader K Narayana and so-called analyst C Narasimha Rao.
These people are regularly seen in television debates and public forums, wherein they have been attacking the BJP leadership for denying the special category status to AP. Particularly, their target is Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu, who was the first person to demand special category status.
Yet, they do not utter a single word against TDP president and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who had virtually surrendered to the NDA government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and given up the demand for special category status for the sake of Polavaram contract.
They never ask Naidu to come out of the NDA and bring pressure on the Centre. They do not criticise him for welcoming the package and expose his weakness.
Well, the reason for their soft approach towards Naidu is anybody’s guess!
