Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who had gone all the way to Kolkata to meet Trinamul Congress president West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee to discuss the modalities of the federal front of regional parties, skipped the Saturday’s public meeting organized by her at Kolkata.
She told media on the sidelines of Telangana Jagruthi International Youth Leadership Conference-2019 held at Novotel that the TRS chief could not attend the Kolkata rally he was busy with the first session of the Telangana assembly being held after the elections.
“The assembly session is in progress and it is very important for the party. We shall definitely participate in such rallies in future, but we are against both the BJP and the Congress,” she said.
On the Saturday’s rally, she said one had to see how serious these parties who attended the rally were.
“Because, the pre-poll alliances among the parties should have to continue after the elections also,” she said.
But, the reason for the TRS not attending the Mamata rally is different, as if KCR is busy with the assembly, he could have sent his party representative like what Congress president Rahul Gandhi had done by sending his party leader in Lok Sabha Mallikharjun Kharge and Bahujan Samaj Party leader Mayawati had done by sending her party representative.
In the morning, TRS spokesman and MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy gave the actual reason.
“We did not want to share the dais with TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu and also the Congress leaders. So, we abstained from the rally,” he said.
