Days after he publicly denied contemplating resigning from the YSRCP, well-known industrialist Raghurama Krishnam Raju bid goodbye to the party.
Earlier, he had said that some people who were against him were spreading false rumours about him.
However, once he formally quit the party, Raghuraju did a U-turn and vehemently criticized YSRCP leader YS Jagan and said that he would strive to reduce the high-headedness of Jagan.
On the other hand, YSRCP launched an immediate counter-attack on Raghuraju saying that his money power made him make such irresponsible comments.
While we set aside these rumours, let’s look at the reasons that led to Raghuraju’s exit from the party.
Many feel the main reason was the issue involving Narsapuram YSRCP candidate Prasada Raju. For a long time now, Raghuraju has been asking the YSRCP leadership to change Prasada Raju. But it is being said that Jagan was in no mood to change the candidate. Incidentally, Prasada Raju quit the Congress party as an MLA and joined YSRCP and hence Jagan was averse to the idea of replacing him.
Raghuraju’s group claims that YSRCP was not considering their requests for change of candidates and accused that the party was linking seats with money. Also, they claim that Raju filing a petition in the Supreme Court against bifurcation did not go well with Jagan.
It has to be recollected that another industrialist Potluri Vara Prasad from Vijayawada was keen to join YSRCP, but backed out in the last minute. Now, Raju has quit the party.
Political observers are wondering as to how these incidents will impact the party cadre and the voters.
