After kicking up storm for a week or two over the special category status issue, power star and Jana Sena party president Pawan Kalyan is back into his political oblivion.
He addressed a massive public meeting at Kakinada on September 9 and then announced that he would not address the meetings again.
But he kept everybody guessing as to what his next step would be. It is 10 days since he spoke last and there is no news from him about his future course of action. Nobody knows when and how he would come out again.
What surprised everybody was why Pawan targeted Union minister M Venkaiah Naidu so strongly during his short public appearance and spared everybody, including Modi, Arun Jaitely and Chandrababu Naidu.
Inquiries revealed that Pawan was not happy with the way Venkaiah had obstructed the elevation of a Kapu leader as the state BJP president.
Sources said Pawan had lobbied for making either Somu Veerraju or Kanna Lakshminarayana – both from Kapu community – as the state BJP president, so that he would have a smooth sailing with the party in the coming elections.
However, Venkaiah used his good offices to see that his protégé Kambhampati Haribabu (who hails from his own community) retained as the party chief in AP, so that he would have no troubles with chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, whose TDP is the close ally of the BJP.
Thus, Pawan has lost a chance to replace the TDP as the close alliance partner of the BJP. Hence, the attack on Venkaiah!
