Why Did KCR Stick To 31 Districts?

Why Did KCR Stick To 31 Districts?

Ever since Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao decided to reorganise the districts, there had been tremendous pressure on him to create districts from the local leaders.

He went on increasing the number from 10 to 24 to 27 to 30 and finally decided to stick to 31 districts.

Though there were still demands from various parts like Mulugu, Narayanpet and Zaheerabad for making them districts, KCR refused to consider them, as he was somehow fascinated with the number 31. What is so interesting about this number?

Telugu Desam Party leader and MLA A Revanth Reddy has come out with the answer to this question.

He said KCR had chosen the number 31, because he wanted to exactly reverse to Andhra Pradesh.

“Since AP has 13 districts, KCR wanted the number of districts in Telangana to be exactly reverse -- that is 31. Otherwise, there is no significance to this number,” he said.

Going by this logic, if Naidu increases the number of districts from 13 to 25, will KCR create 52 districts? Who knows, he is capable of doing even that!
