Speaking at the Niti Aayog meeting in Delhi, Chandrababu Naidu spoke about the negligent attitude of the Centre towards Andhra Pradesh and the fiscal problems being faced by the State.
The Chief Minister presented his version of AP’s revenue and expenses and his roadmap for the State’s future.
At the same time, he spoke about Amaravati and said the new capital will need an infusion of Rs 5 lakh crore over the next 20 years. Yes, that’s right! Rs 5 lakh crore!
Imagine what the other Chief Ministers present there would have thought of this. Modi once again fainted but a cup of hot chai was poured into his mouth which revived him.
Did Andhras ask for a 5 lakh crore capital which the current generation will probably not live to see?
What is this madness called Amaravati where fertile lands worth more than Rs 60,000 crore are taken away from farmers to build a capital city that will be completed in the next 20 years at a cost of 5 lakh crore?
“The Centre has released only Rs 1500 crore for Amaravati till date,” complained Chandrababu.
Had Chandrababu made Vijayawada, Vizag, Tirupati, Kurnool or some other city as capital and invested this Rs 1500 crore there, will the people of the State not be happy?
Will 1500 crore not be sufficient initially to improve the landscape of a city in a remarkable fashion?
