The BJP will not help Andhra Pradesh for the simple reason that they see Chandrababu Naidu as a threat to Narendra Modi.
At a meeting of NDA before the elections, where Naidu was still not part of the NDA, some parties actually opined that Naidu would make a good PM candidate for NDA as he had no ‘Godhra’ kind of baggage and also was responsible for putting Hyderabad on the world map.
Besides, the TDP has recently been looking for the status of a ‘National Party’ and it wants to compete in 2019 in all areas and States where there is a large presence of Telugu people.
What this means is that Naidu is gearing up for a much bigger role on the national scene. If in his current capacity as CM, if the BJP goes all out to help Naidu develop AP, then Naidu will use it to project himself on to the national scene.
In short, he would be replicating Modi who came to power on the basis of his track record in Gujarat. Surely, the BJP will not allow Naidu to realize his plan, will they?
