Practise before you preach – goes the saying. But for Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, this saying does not seem to have any value.
A couple of days ago, Naidu made very tall claims about his “ascetic way of life.”
He told media that he leads a very simple way of life and that he has become more spiritual than materialistic of late.
What is more surprising on the part of Naidu is that he practises “self-visualisation” for 10 minutes every morning. As part of this exercise, he makes a study of his own life from his childhood to the present.
“I question myself about who I am and where I have come from. I will go into the past and visualise my present from childhood days for five minutes and then seek answers to questions on who I am now, what my challenges, opportunities and responsibilities are and what exactly my goal is,’’ Naidu said.
He said this exercise would help him understand his strengths and weaknesses, gain courage to face challenges and will power to avoid monetary and other attractions from outside.
In a way, Naidu considers himself to be a monk. Well, everybody knows how much truth is there in his so-called self-realisation.
If what Naidu says is correct, why is he enjoying so many luxuries? He has palatial bungalows in Vijayawada and Hyderabad; and if he is an ascetic, he should live in a simple house enough for his small family.
Why should he travel only in special flights? Why is his office so luxurious? Why does he need a separate pantry van, if what he eats is so simple? Why didn’t he give up his assets?
And above all, can he claim openly that he and his party is not spending crores of rupees in the elections?
