Why AAP Is The Way Forward?

Why AAP Is The Way Forward?

Never in the history of Delhi was an occasion when a political party made a big bang entry within a year of its inception and upset the ruling national party.

What Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has achieved under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal is nothing short of spectacular.

An IIT engineering graduate, Kejriwal has shown what a common man can do.

The success of AAP has spawned comparisons to similar experiments like Dr Jayaprakash Narayan's Lok Satta Party.

However, what differentiates AAP from Lok Satta is that Kejriwal and his supporters established connection with the masses like no one else could do.

They started the movement as an anti-corruption mobilization and attracted people from all walks of life.

The voting pattern in Delhi Assembly polls shows that the support for AAP came from all sections, irrespective of their class, caste and religion.

The one year old party made inroads into the traditional Congress bastions and defeated several Congress stalwarts in what is seen as a political tsunami.

Now, the party is said to be eyeing for replicating similar experiments in various cities across the country.

The next target is said to be Mumbai, followed by Bangalore and other big cities where people are fed up with the corrupt administrations, inept politicians and they can connect very well with the agenda of AAP.

What makes this party unique and distinct from the other conventional political parties is that the people came out voluntarily to work for it.

Several people sacrificed their source of income and contributed for the success of the party. The candidates put up by AAP had no political experience but were drawn towards it because of idealism and a determination to bring about change in the political system.

This element was clearly missing in the case of Lok Satta Party or Praja Rajyam Party floated by popular actor Chiranjeevi, though both the parties initially raised lot of expectations. They failed to connect with the people and take up issues that have a bearing on the livelihoods of common people.

Kudos to AAP. Let their success in Delhi be repeated in other parts of India so that a new chapter can be opened in the country's politics.
