Who's Amit Shah to ask for accounts?

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday questioned the authority of Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah to ask for accounts for the funds released by the Centre for various projects, including Amaravati.

Naidu was reacting to Amit Shah’s comments at a press conference in New Delhi on Monday.

The BJP president alleged that not a single brick was laid for the construction of Amaravati though the Centre had released Rs 2,500 crore and Naidu had not submitted any utilisation certificates.

He even went to the extent of accusing Naidu of submitting fake utilisation certificates to cheat the Centre.

Naidu, who made a length speech at Mahanadu, the party’s annual conclave at Vijayawada on the second day, asked: “Who is Amit Shah after all? He is just a party president and an MP. In what capacity is he asking for accounts on spending of central funds? It is between the state and central governments. Let Prime Minister Narendra Modi or his office ask for it,” he said.

The TDP chief accused Shah of interfering in the administrative matters.

“He has no business to question the authenticity of the utilisation certificates. Niti Ayog has clearly endorsed all our certificates,” he said.

Naidu alleged that the BJP was conspiring to project him in a bad light in collusion with the YSR Congress party. He called upon the party workers to counter every allegation levelled by the BJP.
