Who is behind kidnap of Vizag MP family?

The alleged kidnap of Visakhapatnam MP M V V Satyanarayana’s wife and son, besides his auditor friend G Venkateshwar Rao by some gangsters has exposed chinks in the ruling YSR Congress party, besides bringing a bad name to the party in the port city.

According to sources, Satyanarayana, who met YSRCP president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday, is understood to have complained against a high-profile party leader who was earlier holding the forte in Visakhapatnam, alleging that the latter was behind the kidnap of his wife Jyothy and son Sarath.

Though the police rescued the MP’s family members on June 15 itself, they have not so far formally arrested the accused and produced them before the court for judicial remand. The police told the local reporters that they are still questioning the accused.

Interestingly, one of the main accused – Hemanth Kumar, is learnt to have high political connections and had been able to get away in the previous criminal cases due to his political influence. That is why the police have not yet arrested him so far but are dodging in the name of interrogation.

Apparently, the MP did not get any positive response from the chief minister, who told them the police would handle the case appropriately.

Sources said Jagan had received several complaints against the MP, who made huge money in real estate business by encroaching public and private properties in Visakhapatnam in the last four years.

There is also a suspicion that the MP himself had enacted the entire kidnap drama to settle scores with his rivals in a land dealing. Maybe, Jagan got a hint of it and hence, did not show much interest in the case.

That is perhaps why Satyanarayana told reporters that he would wind up his business in Visakhatpatnam and shift to Hyderabad for real estate business.

“There is also a possibility that if Jagan denies him the party ticket in the next Lok Sabha elections, he might shift his loyalties to the Telugu Desam Party,” sources said.
