What's Behind TDP's New Strategy For Defectors?

It is now being said that TDP has a strong reason behind welcoming defectors from other political parties with open arms.

The analysts say there are two main reasons here. One is that by next elections in 2019, there will be 225 assembly constituencies.

So, the party will need strong candidates for all the seats. Hence, by letting the well-connected Congress and YSRCP leaders join the party, they are ensuring future political gains.

On the other hand, BJP is trying to spread its roots in Andhra Pradesh. And the Saffron party has already started working towards that end. This means that the TDP which presently has an alliance with the party cannot criticize BJP directly, which in turn means that TDP has to go about its job quietly and calmly.

By allowing any top or strong leaders to join their party, they are indirectly making sure that they don’t join BJP in future. That is another strategy say analysts.

Let’s consider the example of Konatela Ramakrishna, who has been contemplating to join the BJP for quite some time. But Minister Ayyannapatrudu has made the right moves to get him into TDP. It is now being said that the leaders of TDP have already given green signal to his entry.

So, it is being said that TDP is trying to pull in as many strong leaders into their fold before they join BJP, it is being said. Must say, TDP has an interesting strategy in place.
