The supporters of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy are a confused lot. They are not sure about his future political plans. Kiran, who has been strongly opposed to the bifurcation of the state and had vowed to stall the division process, is still silent about what he wants to do if the Telangana bill gets passed by the Parliament.
Though there were reports that Kiran would launch a new political party to fight for the cause of united Andhra Pradesh, he is said to have ruled out such a move.
He has been telling his close confidants and other Seemandhra leaders to wait for an opportune time to defeat the Telangana bill in the Assembly and thus send across a strong message to the Centre that a majority of the people of the state are opposed to the division.
However, as the days pass by, it is very clear that formation of separate Telangana state cannot be stopped. It is imminent. Irrespective of what the state Assembly says, the Centre will go ahead with the introduction of the bill in the Parliament and get it passed.
Some of the close aides of the Chief Minister are now confused what to do and their political future looks gloomy.
"If Kiran floats a party, I will consider joining it. But, we do not know what his plans are," the Secondary Education Minister Parthasarathi said.
Like him, there are several other Seemandhra leaders, including some ministers, who are keeping their fingers crossed about their political moves after January 23, the deadline fixed by President Pranab Mukherjee to return the AP Reorganisation Bill 2013 along with the views of the Assembly.
