We have the same slogan in both the state... we are committed to bifurcation – this was the slogan of BJP leaders in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
And indeed BJP’s role in bifurcation cannot be ignored. But where TDP and Congress faced trouble prior to bifurcation, BJP is having its share of problems after the two states have emerged.
There is rising frustration especially among the Telangana BJP cadre as they are not sure of where their party is heading in Telangana.
Though they continue to maintain that they will abide by the High Command’s decision, they are unhappy about the Centre’s stand on the Polavaram project.
Already an ordinance about it has been converted into a bill and passed in Lok Sabha by their party.
Similarly, though the Seemandhra BJP leaders were supporting the bifurcation, they ensured that Bhadrachalam division remains with Andhra Pradesh. In fact, the Polavaram ordinance has provided succor to them.
But the same issue has turned into a bone of contention between BJP leaders from both states. When a bandh was followed all over Telangana opposing the Polavaram ordinance, the BJP leaders were nowhere to be seen, which is promptly being questioned by the TRS and Congress leaders.
So, the T BJP leaders are caught up in a ‘now what’ mode. Meanwhile, T BJP leaders including Kishan Reddy have come to a conclusion that they will remain silent for now.
But since there are many contentious issues between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the T BJP leaders are planning to make a trip to Delhi and discuss their problems with the top BJP leaders there.
