It's more than a month since glamorous actress of Tollywood in yesteryears-turned-politician Vijayashanti was appointed as a star campaigner of the party for the assembly elections in Telangana.
The Congress high command thought Vijayashanti, being a former MP and a hard core Telangana supporter, is going to play a crucial role in the party’s campaign.
Moreover, she declared that she would not contest the coming elections and so, the party leadership thought of her filmy popularity to attract voters.
But so far, the star campaigner has hardly campaigned for the party.
Let alone conducting rallies and addressing public meetings, Vijayashanti did not even address press conferences and attacked the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
On the other hand, she spoke to some select media a couple of times on the seat sharing with the Maha Kootami alliance partners.
There were no reports of Vijayashanti coming to Gandhi Bhavan to participate in the meetings as well.
Forget connecting with people, she did not even connect with the party cadres, who are refusing to acknowledge as a party leader.
It was only on Saturday that Vijayashanti was seen at the Mahila Congress workers’ meeting at Karimnagar.
She said the Congress was the only party that protects the self-respect of women and hoped that women would vote for the party in the coming elections.
She called upon the people to dethrone KCR who is limited to his farmhouse.
On the other hand, Tamil Nadu actor turned politician and AICC official spokesperson Kushboo attracted the people at a public meeting in Jadcherla to campaign for Congress candidate Mallu Ravi.
She alleged that KCR was the only leader who ruled Telangana without visiting secretariat for two and half years.
She criticised that four crore Telanganites are facing problems with '4k's in the state (KCR, KTR, Kavitha and Kutumbam-the family).
She said Telanganites were hoping to get rid of KCR's autocratic rule.
