While it is becoming evident with every passing day that the Centre is going ahead with the division of the State, the Union ministers from Seemandhra leaders are trying to fool the people by putting up an innocent face and saying they are still fighting to keep the State united.
On Thursday, four Union ministers Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, J D Seelam, K Chiranjeevi and D Purandeswari had a meeting with Union Petroleum Minister Veerappa Moily who is also a member of the Group of Ministers constituted to look into State bifurcation.
They reportedly tried to bargain on the packages to be secured for Seemandhra region in the post-bifurcation period; and obviously, their share in the booty.
However, when they came out, they tried to impress upon the media that they strongly argued in favour of keeping the State united.
Seelam said they had asked the Centre to reconsider its decision to divide the State; and if it is not possible, give complete authority to the Seemandhra people on Hyderabad.
He said Rs 55,000 crores was spent for development of Hyderabad during the last eight years and thus no other place in both the regions was developed on par with it.
Chiranjeevi said that they were more worried about the future of lakhs of people settled in Hyderabad.
‘How best their interests would be safeguarded is our main concern’, he observed.
He said he had explained to Moil on the numerous problems that would crop up with regard to river water distribution, education, employment opportunities, financial allocations etc.
