CPI leader Narayana has said that he and his party would study the various pre-poll promises made in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to lure the people to vote. However, given the ground reality, most of these promises cannot be fulfilled or will take a very long time to be fulfilled.
So, Narayana said that after coming up with a consolidated report, they would lodge a formal complaint with the Election Commission.
He said both Chandra Babu Naidu and KCR promised loan waivers, but are thinking twice before taking any steps after being voted to power.
However, it remains to be seen if the Election Commission has the power to take appropriate action against parties making such false promises.
Unless various parties take a united decision in Parliament about what needs to be done if parties make false promises, the Election Commission can do little to discipline the parties.
