'We Have Failed Collectively'

There is a sense of hopelessness among the Seemandhra politicians of all parties. With the the UPA government going ahead with the bifurcation process, brushing aside the mass agitation rocking the Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra regions, the politicians from Seemandhra are overtaken by a sense of despondency.

"It is clear that we all have failed in our efforts to keep the state united," the Congress MP from Anantapur Ananta Venkatarami Reddy said.

Not just the Congress Seemandhra leaders, even the Telugu Desam Party leaders from the region have failed to convince their party leadership to remain committed to the united Andhra Pradesh cause, he said.

Despite the best efforts by the party leaders from the region, the Congress high command has not budged even an inch from its position on Telangana statehood issue.

The Anantapur MP has also criticized his party ministers from Seemandhra in the central cabinet.

"They are changing their tunes every day. They are not at all consistent," he lamented. On his part, Venkatarami Reddy made it clear that he would bow to any pressure from the central leadership on the resignation issue.

"There is no question of withdrawing my resignation from the Lok Sabha, I will see that my resignation is accepted by the Speaker," he said.
