Despite granting statehood to Telangana region, the Congress party does not look to be in a comfortable position, which is evident from the way it is looking for winnable candidates in the region.
On Wednesday, Telangana PCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah declared that door were open for leaders who could follow the policies of the Congress party.
He said many leaders were evincing interest in joining the party, but only winnable candidates would get tickets.
“We are open to prospective leaders who can make it big at poll arena,” he said.
Ponnala said the party would finalise the list of candidates by month end. Lists came from District Congress Committees were sent to election committee of party high command for scrutiny.
Only the leaders with public faith will be given a chance to contest the elections on MLA, MP tickets, he said, adding that winning horses would get a chance in the general elections to come.
