During the Telangana agitation, using the money they allegedly extorted from Andhra businessmen, KCR family started 'Namasthe Telangana' newspaper.
KTR used to oversee the management of the newspaper and it soon started incurring losses.
The newspaper was then taken over by ‘Bada Brahmin’ contractor CL Rajam. Maybe it was luck or efficient management, the newspaper made a turnaround into profits.
Rajam who was a close friend and financier of KCR was promised a Rajya Sabha seat but equations changed after the formation of Telangana.
Not only was Rajam not sent to the Rajya Sabha, his newspaper ‘Namasthe Telangana’ was forcibly taken over by KCR who felt the need for a Party mouthpiece.
An infuriated Rajam quit the TRS and joined the BJP. But the Party has hardly any presence in Telangana and during the recent elections, Rajam promoted the Congress vigorously in his new Telugu newspaper Vijaya Kranthi.
With TRS romping back to power and the BJP not in a position to accommodate Rajam’s Raya Sabha aspirations as of now, the wait could get longer for this Brahmin billionaire.
