Many in the Vijayawada-Guntur region are rejoicing that the new capital of Andhra Pradesh will be developed between both the cities.
In fact, there was talk that Guntur and Vijayawada will be developed like the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
But union minister Venkaiah Naidu’s latest comments are clearly indicating that the Central government has not taken a final decision on the matter as yet.
Instead of saying that the capital would be between Vijayawada and Guntur, he has said that a decision will be taken once the Sivaramakrishnan Committee submits its report.
Incidentally, the committee was appointed by the UPA government. So, if the committee suggests a new place, then that is likely to be considered before making a decision.
Till now, TDP has maintained that the new capital would be between Vijayawada and Guntur. The real estate shot up in the region in the past few months. However, with Venkaiah’s latest announcement, people are in a fix.
Many are wondering if the state government can take a decision irrespective of the report submitted by Sivaramakrishnan committee. Meanwhile, the suspense continues.
