With Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu running into deep troubles on the special category status issue, his close confidant and union minister M Venkaiah Naidu has swung into action to bail the chief minister out of the crisis.
Apparently getting an SOS from Naidu that he had been under tremendous pressure to take some serious decision in the wake of denial of special category status to AP, Venkaiah immediately rushed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and explained to him the ground situation in AP.
He reportedly told Modi to do some damage control job and that it was not good for the BJP to lose the alliance with the TDP at this stage, since denial of special category status has done extensive damage to both the parties; which would give clear political advantage to the rivals.
Modi reportedly sought details of his earlier meetings with Naidu and the exact financial assistance granted to AP. Venkaiah requested that it would be better the Prime Minister gave appointment to the TDP MPs for a meeting to sort out all the issues.
