Venkaiah Changes Tune On Loan Waiver!

Venkaiah Changes Tune On Loan Waiver!

Union minister M Venkaiah Naidu is a typical politician who changes his tune according to situations.

We have seen how he had strongly argued in favour of special category status to Andhra Pradesh when he was in the Opposition and how he made a complete U-turn after NDA came to power and he became the Union minister.

Now, the latest statement from Venkaiah that some political leaders were destroying the banking system in the country by promising loan waiver schemes for farmers has baffled many.

He is learnt to have said at a meeting in Nellore that the banks would be able to give fresh loans only if the farmers repay their old loans.

This is a strange argument from Venkaiah. Before 2014 elections, he and Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu addressed several public meetings, where they had openly promised to waive all the crop loans and asked the farmers not to repay the existing loans.

Neither Venkaiah nor Narendra Modi spoke anything against Naidu’s loan waiver promise then. Even in the last two years, there was no comment from the Centre on the loan waiver scheme.

But, now, Venkaiah suddently changed his tone and tenor and started attacking the Naidu government for the loan waiver scheme.

Has the NDA government evolved any policy on loan waiver or has Venkaiah made the statement in view of the strained relations with Naidu?
