At last, former MLA from Vijayawada and prominent Kapu leader Vangaveeti Radhakrishna, who resigned from the YSR Congress party a couple of days ago, has decided to join the Telugu Desam Party.
TDP president and chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu confirmed to the party leaders that Vangaveeti would be joining in TDP on January 25.
He told the party leaders from Krishna district that Vangaveeti was being taken into the party “keeping the party interests in view.” He asked all the leaders in the district have to work together along with him”.
However, there was some tension in the TDP leaders in Krishna district, as to which promise Naidu would give to Vangaveeti, for the simple reason that all the three assembly constituencies in Vijayawada are represented by TDP – Gadde Rammohan in Vijayawada East, Bonda Uma in Vijayawada Central and Jaleel Khan in Vijayawada west.
Moreover, the entry of Vangaveeti might also cause a heartburn in late Devineni Nehru family, as Naidu had promised a good position to Nehru’s son Devineni Avinash.
In fact, TDP leader Buddha Venkanna appealed to Naidu not to neglect Devineni Avinash for the sake of Vangaveeti, Naidu said he would definitely take care of Avinash interests.
It is learnt Naidu has promised to give MLC ticket to Vangaveeti in order to avoid disturbance to the sitting MLAs.
Earlier, Vangaveeti held a meeting with members of `Radha Mitra Mandali’ and followers of late Vangaveti Ranga from Krishna, East and West Godavai districts in large numbers.
Initially the followers suggested him joining Janasena in view of community equations. Then, all of them vociferously supported Radha’s view of joining TDP.
