Former MLA from Vijayawada (north) and prominent Kapu leader Vangaveeti Radha Krishna has called for a meeting of his followers and well-wishers on Friday to discuss his future plans, as Andhra Pradesh is heading for assembly elections in another eight months.
This led to the speculations once again as to whether Vangaveeti has any plans to quit the Telugu Desam Party to join another party to test his fortunes in the coming elections, as he is uncertain about his position in the TDP/
Though Vangaveeti has been in the TDP for the last four years, he has not never taken an active part in the party activities.
Now and then, he is found moving closely with his old friends in the YSR Congress party, including Kodali Nani and Vallabhaneni Vamsi, but he has not disclosed his plans to return to the YSRC.
At the same time, he also took part in the Yuva Galam padayatra of TDP general secretary and party president N Chandrababu Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh at Kalikiri of Pileru assembly constituency in Chittoor district, resulting in the talk that he had dropped his plans to join any other party.
His recent meeting with Jana Sena Party political affairs committee chairman Nadendla Manohar triggered the rumours that he might defect to the Jana Sena Party. He did neither confirm nor deny the rumours.
His silence led to the talk that he might jump the fence to join Jana Sena, where he reportedly got an assurance for the party ticket from Vijayawada central assembly seat – as he did not get such an assurance from the TDP.
Now, with Vangaveeti calling for a meeting of the followers to announce his future plans, speculations are once again rife as to what he would do – whether he would remain in the TDP or jump into the Jana Sena.
Apparently, Vangaveeti is keen on contesting from Vijayawada central assembly constituency. His decision depends which party would offer him the ticket from this seat. If the TDP is firm on fielding Bonda Uma from the seat, Vangaveeti may move to Jana Sena.
If there is an alliance between Jana Sena and the TDP and the Vijayawada Central seat is left to the TDP, then what decision Vangaveeti would take would be interesting to see.
