The latest arrest and prosecution of YSR Congress party leader and former MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi in the case related to attack the TDP office at Gannavaram in 2023 is taking curious turns with every passing day.
The police authorities, who are now questioning Vamsi, who has been made Accused No. 71 (A-71) in this case, seem to be digging more into it, as they did not find substantial evidence against him initially.
Sources said the police authorities are now probing whether there was a conspiracy centred around to find out whether YSRCP chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had any links to the incident.
Vamsi was accused of kidnapping Satya Vardhan, a Dalit youth working as computer operator in the Gannavaram TDP office at the time of the attack, who had filed a complaint in the case.
Allegations surfaced that Vamsi and his associates abducted Satya Vardhan and transported him between Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam.
As a result, the police arrested Vamsi and designated him as Accused No. 1 (A1) in the case. Several of his followers were also arrested and sent to jail.
The investigation has revealed crucial details that allegedly link Vamsi’s actions to Jagan Mohan Reddy, raising suspicions about whether the police may now try to implicate the former chief minister in the case.
On the second day of investigation, the police are learnt to have obtained evidence indicating that Vamsi had met Jagan in Tadepalli on February 12, shortly after Satya Vardhan’s abduction.
Initially, during questioning, Vamsi denied meeting Jagan, but after being presented with concrete evidence, he was forced to admit it. This meeting between Vamsi and Jagan has now become a crucial factor in the investigation.
The police are now focusing on whether Jagan had any role in directing or influencing the kidnapping and intimidation of Satya Vardhan. However, simply meeting Jagan is not enough to implicate him in the crime.
Thus, on the third day of Vamsi’s custody, the police are focusing on extracting more information about what was discussed during his meeting with Jagan.
If any evidence directly linking Jagan to the case emerges, it is expected to create a major political storm in Andhra Pradesh.
