Two more MPs under pressure to quit YSRCP?

Two more MPs under pressure to quit YSRCP?

The recent resignation of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader V Vijay Sai Reddy from both the party and his Rajya Sabha membership has left a vacancy in the Upper House.

According to reports from New Delhi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is now staking its claim for the vacant seat, negotiating with its Andhra Pradesh alliance partners—Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Jana Sena Party (JSP).

Sources in New Delhi suggest that two more YSRCP Rajya Sabha members are likely to resign soon, creating two additional vacancies.

While their names have not yet been officially revealed, speculation points to Golla Babu Rao and Meda Raghunath Reddy as the potential defectors.

Reports indicate that the BJP leadership in Delhi has received strong indications of this development.

Meanwhile, Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is set to visit New Delhi on Wednesday, where he will hold discussions with Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding these political shifts.

"There is a high likelihood that two YSRCP Rajya Sabha members will defect after Naidu's meeting with Shah. One of them is expected to join TDP, while the other is likely to move to BJP. Since BJP is already in touch with both MPs, Delhi leaders are confident that at least one will join their party," sources said.

Naidu is also expected to discuss with Shah the allocation of five MLC seats under the MLAs’ quota.

While BJP is hoping for one MLC seat as part of the alliance understanding, Naidu may negotiate to retain it, considering that the vacant Rajya Sabha seat might already be allotted to the BJP.

"Naidu may offer the MLC seat to the BJP in the next round of elections. However, if Shah insists on securing the MLC seat now, Naidu might not oppose the request," sources added.
