In an obvious move to counter the Andhra Pradesh government’s attempt to conduct EAMCET counseling for the students so as to force the Telangana government to implement the fee scheme, the latter on Saturday issued a GO on Saturday constituting the Telangana State Council for Higher Education (TSCHE).
The formation of TSCHE nullifies the attempt of the AP State Council of Higher Education to conduct EAMCET counseling without consulting the Telangana government. Now, the TSCHE can issue its own notification for counseling exclusively for Telangana students.
The government said the GO had been issued under Section 101 of Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014. In its order, the Telangana Government contended that as per the Reorganisation Act, it was empowered to make adaptions and modifications of any law made in united Andhra Pradesh.
Therefore, the GO has been issued adapting the Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education (APSCHE) Act, 1988.
As per the order issued by the Department of Higher Education, the Vice-Chancellors of Osmania University, Kakatiya University, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Telangana University, Mahatma Gandhi University, Palamuru University and Satavahana University have been appointed as the members of the TSCHE.
