TRS not keen on merger with Cong?

Telangana Rashtra Samithi does not seem to be very much interested in merging with the Congress in the wake of reports that the Congress-led UPA government might not come to power at the Centre after 2014 general elections.

TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao is learnt to have told his party colleagues that almost surveys had predicted doom for the Congress in the 2014 elections and hence, there is no point in merging the TRS with it.

Instead, it can retain its identity even after the Telangana formation and play a bigger role in the Centre whichever coalition comes to power in the next general elections.

TRS floor leader Etela Rajender, referring to a recent survey done by a media group predicting 13 Lok Sabha seats for the TRS in next elections, said that the report indicated that people's confidence on his party had increased considerably.

Therefore, the TRS would work hard to ensure development of Telangana and resolve the problems being faced by its people.

The movement seeking statehood for Telangana was initiated by KCR following injustice and non-development of the region.

After the formation of Telangana State, the TRS would continue its struggle for its re-formation and development, he said.
