Though Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is boasting of preventing irregularities in the administration, his party MLAs are blatantly indulging in protecting illegal traders and corrupt party workers.
On Monday, TRS whip Gongidi Sunitha openly lobbied for release of illicit liquor stock from a wine shop dealer in her Alair constituency in Nalgonda district. In this process, she picked up quarrel with Excise Minister T Padma Rao.
According to informed sources, the minister and the whip exchanged heated argument on raids conducted on some wine shops in Alair (Sunitha’s home constituency). The minister refused to do any favor to Sunitha, who reportedly requested the former to excuse a shop owner for allegedly possessing ‘illegal’ liquor stocks.
Interestingly, the minister pulled up the owner of the shop, who came to the lobbies along with Sunitha. The minister failed to get a proper reply on illicit liquor stock from the person.
The Excise Minister reportedly said the State Government was prestigiously developing Yadadri (Yadagirigutta) Temple by allocating Rs 100 crore and there should be no room for such illicit liquor sale in the area or elsewhere.
When Sunitha insisted on her demand, the Minister failed to budge and asked her instead to complain to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhaar Rao if she wanted.
The minister reportedly supported the raids as genuine and the shop was caught red handed. She is learnt to have argued that there are some other shops selling ‘illicit’ liquor.
An annoyed Sunitha reportedly stated that she would take the issue to the notice of the Chief Minister.
