Every political party needs one specific issue as trump card for any election. In 2014, it was the separate state and Telangana pride against so-called Andhra domination that was KCR’s chief platform.
In 2019, since Telangana has been achieved, developmental issues should be the key parameters, right? Wrong!
Parties like the TRS and BJP can only thrive on the divisive element inherent in their key policies. If it was anti-Andhra sentiment that brought KCR to power, it is the only thing that will help him retain power too.
Between 2014 and now, there has been no significant changes in the lives of the people of Telangana.
All that the TRS has been successful in doing is to change the name boards on government offices from AP to TS.
Now that the T-Congress has also approved special category status to AP, KCR is using this to portray Congress as anti-Telangana.
TRS cadre have been instructed to spread the message in the masses that SCS to AP will result in all industries shifting away from Hyderabad to Vijayawada and by approving SCS to AP, Congress is anti-Telangana and pro-AP.
Clearly, a more ludicrous argument cannot be found. For all the saline-supported deekshas at NIMS resorted to by KCR, it is a fact that had it not been for the political will of Sonia Gandhi, the State would not have been bifurcated. This decision resulted in Congress being decimated in AP.
Therefore, to call that Party as ant-Telangana and pro-AP is just an indication of the opportunism of KCR.
All along, he has made his career basing on hatred towards Andhras, now he is blocking development of AP to retain power.
