Senior Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader and former MP B Vinod Kumar on Friday clarified that Article 371 (D) would not be a hurdle in the formation of Telangana State.
Speaking to the media at TRS headquarters, Vinod said the Seemandhra leaders and the media had launched a misinformation campaign against Article 371(D) with an intention to sabotage formation of separate Telangana State.
He said the Seemandhra leaders’ statements that Telangana State cannot be formed as per Article 371(D) were totally false and mischievous.
He also reminded that Article 371 (D) was taken into consideration as part of Gentlemen’s Agreement for merging Andhra and Telangana regions into Andhra Pradesh in 1956. He said it had empowered the President to take decisions on Education and Employment matters.
Therefore, the Telangana protagonists and students need not worry about misinformation campaign launched by the Seemandhra media and leaders, he added.
