IPS officers in Andhra Pradesh are said to be extremely unhappy with chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu due to frequent transfers from one place to another, leading to instability in their postings.
In the last few months, there had been large scale reshuffle of the IPS officers in the state, right from Srikakulam to Kurnool for reasons known only to Naidu.
There are allegations that the chief minister has been effecting these transfers because of pressures form his own party leaders, as these IPS officers have refused to toe their line.
For example, in the home district of Chittoor alone, three IPS officers were retransferred within five days, apparently under pressure from political leaders of the ruling party.
Only last week, Ch Vijaya Rao was posted as Tirupati Urban SP in the place of R Jayalakshmi. However, within four days of Rao taking charge, he was shifted as Guntur Urban SP. In his place, Abhishek Mohanty was posted as Tirupati Urban SP from Guntur Urban.
Apparently, Vijaya Rao happens to be a Christian and so, he would not be allowed to perform duties at Tirumala temple.
Similarly, Anantapur SP S V Rajasekhar Babu was posted as Chittoor SP two days ago and he was also given an additional charge as Chief Vigilance and Security Officer (CVSO) of the TTD. But within three days, he was replaced by Kurnool SP Ake Ravi Krishna.
There were allegations that Naidu’s son Lokesh was behind these hasty transfers.
