Top Cong leader mediating between Jagan, Sharmila?

Top Cong leader mediating between Jagan, Sharmila?

It is an open secret that YSR Congress party president and former Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is at odds with his sister, Y S Sharmila, and that they are currently not on speaking terms.

Their relationship has deteriorated significantly since Sharmila decided to join the Congress party and become its president for Andhra Pradesh. From the outset, she has been vocal in her criticism of her brother, attacking him with strong words.

With the YSRCP losing power in Andhra Pradesh and Jagan facing a major political crisis, well-wishers of the Y S Rajasekhar Reddy family hope that the siblings can reconcile to revive the spirit of YSR and work towards returning to power.

According to speculation in some media outlets, Jagan's mother, Y S Vijayalakshmi, has sought the assistance of a senior Congress leader who was close to her late husband to help mend the rift between her children.

The senior leader is reportedly willing to mediate between Jagan and Sharmila, provided they align politically.

He has suggested that Jagan should consider reaching some form of understanding with the Congress party—if not a merger—to unify YSR's supporters.

“This would also create a positive atmosphere for both Jagan and Sharmila among the people who still hold YSR in high regard. The key is for both siblings to adopt a give-and-take approach,” the Congress leader reportedly told Vijayamma.

It is not yet clear how Jagan has responded to this proposal, but if he agrees, a reconciliation between him and his sister could be possible, according to sources.
