The ruling TRS is leaving no stone unturned to win ensuing GHMC elections in January. On one hand, it is encouraging defections from other parties to join TRS to weaken Opposition parties.
The latest strategy being devised by TRS leadersship according to reliable sources is that it wants some prominent Tollywood actors to campaign for TRS in GHMC polls.
And for that the TRS is 'shortlisting' some top Tollywood heroes, who would be helpful in attracting voters, especially Seemandhra voters in Hyderabad.
However, the party knows that it's not easy to make Tollywood heroes, who mostly have Seemandhra roots, to campaign for TRS.
But it knows how to make them campaign and it is for this purpose, it is in the process of identifying their 'weakness' which would force them to work for TRS.
According to TRS sources, the party wants Mahesh Babu and Akkineni Nagarjuna to campaign for TRS.
They say, it is for this reason, the news leaks on TS government planning to acquire lands in Annapurna Studios in Banjara Hills owned by Akkineni Nagarjuna for road widening and for Metro Rail works is being given to media putting pressure on Nagarjuna to approach TRS leadership for 'compromise' and seek his services in GHMC polls in return.
The TRS leaders are also planning to rake up controversial sale of lands in Jubilee Hills allotted to Padmalaya Studios to a private TV channel by Mahesh Babu's father Krishna to build pressure on Mahesh Babu.
Several other Tollywood actors who built farmhouses, commercial buildings, residential buildings against the norms are also said to be under TRS scanner.
