To date, the TRS has not been able to prevent the spate of farmer suicides in its State. The situation is only bound to get worse in summer, with the CM KCR himself declaring that the farmers are going to face a potentially tough summer.
KCR has ordered that the first priority in power supply should be to the agriculture sector. Nevertheless, the acute shortage of power that Telangana will face makes it clear that the State and Hyderabad is in for mammoth power-cuts.
One shudders to think of the fate of Telangana farmers who on the one hand are burdened with debts. Now, in the absence of ‘power’, how many of them will choose to give up their battle with life?
If not for himself, then at least for the sake of the people of Telangana, KCR should climb a step down and try and negotiate peace with Chandrababu Naidu and the Centre. But known to be a supremely egoistical person, it is highly improbable that KCR will choose this option.
It is at times like these that KCR should be made to remember that he is not a King, but an elected representative of the people of Telangana. Personal ego and fancies should make way to the priorities of the people of Telangana!
Otherwise, this summer will be the bleakest period ever in the history of Telangana and that of the TRS! The outcome will not be worth the agitation.
