In Singapore, Chandrababu Naidu said Andhra Pradesh was awarded the No 1 rank in ‘Ease of doing business’ and used this as the pivot in making a pitch for investments in Amaravati.
Obviously, when Chief Ministers go abroad, they project positive things about their State and themselves to attract investments. There is nothing wrong in this! But the ground reality is different.
The National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) in its survey stated that Andhra Pradesh was number 2 in corruption in the nation. CMS Research also said the same thing.
Therefore, you cannot be number one or two in corruption and still expect investments to pour in. Ease of doing Business goes hand in hand with a transparent administration.
Therefore, Multinationals are very much aware of the truth and if Naidu wants to achieve his objective, he should start cleaning up his administration back home.
That will bring a lot of vigour to Andhra Pradesh.
