Telugu Politics: 'Jail Sentiment' Sparks CM Race Drama

In the colorful world of Telugu politics, a curious "jail sentiment" has taken hold: spend time behind bars, and you might just land the Chief Minister's chair.

The theory gained momentum with Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and A Revanth Reddy both rising to power post-incarceration, sparking more gossip than a Tollywood potboiler.

Now, speculation is swirling that BRS working president K T Rama Rao (KTR) might be eyeing this unorthodox path to Telangana's top job.

KTR's repeated fiery challenges to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy — daring him to "show some guts" and throw him in jail — have only stoked the rumor mill.

"Send me to jail if you dare," KTR has declared, leaving political watchers amused and wondering if he's more interested in packing for prison than preparing for the next election.

Revanth, however, isn’t one to let such jabs go unanswered.

"Even if KTR goes to jail, he won't become CM," Revanth quipped recently.

His reason? KTR's sister, Kalvakuntla Kavitha, already spent five months in Tihar Jail for her alleged involvement in the Delhi liquor scam, making her the more "qualified" candidate for the CM post — at least by jailbird seniority.

This peculiar sibling rivalry has turned into a comedic subplot, with Revanth taking every chance to mock KTR's ambitions.

"Just going to jail isn’t enough, my friend. You need the people's vote too," Revanth recently jibed, delivering a sharp dose of political reality and a masterclass in shade.

Amid this theatrical exchange, the "jail-to-CM" sentiment continues to entertain political circles, proving once again that in Telugu politics, drama is never in short supply.
