Telangana Share In IT Very Poor

Though Hyderabad is one of the favoured Information Technology destination in the country, the representation of Telangana people in the IT industry is pathetically low.

In a study paper released by the Telangana IT Association (TITA), it has been claimed that techies from Telangana region were facing discrimination for a long time.

The TITA founder-president Sundeep Kumar Makthala said that according to a sample survey conducted by the Association IT employees hailing from the region constituted only 15.2 per cent of the workforce in the IT sector in Hyderabad as against 45 to 50 per cent from the coastal and Rayalaseema districts and those from other States were 35 per cent.

In the Human Resources (HR) department, only 8 to 9 percent people are from Telangana region and 66.5 percent of top officials belong to the Seemandhra region, who recruit people for different projects.

This undoubtedly shows that Seemandhra officials in IT sector are biased against the people from Telangana.

This gross injustice was going on for several years now. These figures were based on a sample survey of 150 projects in 50 big, middle and small-sized companies.

“A survey conducted in indirect jobs like contract jobs only 6% from Telangana region and 60% from Seemandhra region and the remaining are from other States. In Transport jobs, only 12% are from Telangana region and 49% from Seemandhra, and the remaining from other States. Manpower consultancies are only 7% from Telangana region and 77% from Seemandhra, and the remaining from other States. The discrimination has been done to Telangana region in other IT jobs too.”

Honorary president of the association and former TRS leader V. Prakash has stated that formation of Telangana State was real sunrise in the present circumstances.

He appealed to the leaders from the coastal districts not to put spokes in the formation of Telangana State.

He also alleged that the reports prepared by the Group of Ministers, particularly the one on water sharing, by Jairam Ramesh, were doctored at the instance of these leaders.
