The hue and cry by the Telugu Desam Party leaders including their president N Chandrababu Naidu notwithstanding, the Telangana police are making a serious investigation into the complaint lodged by YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy’s sister Sharmila.
Sharmila filed a complaint with the Hyderabad Police Commissioner on Monday, asking the police to take action against certain websites that have been spreading rumours that she is having an affair with actor Prabhas.
She alleged that the Telugu Desam Party was behind the mudslinging campaign against her.
“It is not new for the TDP to spread rumours, earlier they spread rumours that my father Rajasekhar Reddy was a factionist. Many TDP leaders said that I have an affair with him (Prabhas). If the TDP did not have any involvement, why didn’t they condemn it? Why didn’t Chandrababu Naidu stop them?” she asked.
Sharmila said she had not filed a complaint with the Andhra Pradesh police, saying she didn’t have faith in them. Hence, she filed the complaint with the Telangana police.
Within two days, the Telangana police reacted quickly and identified as many as 10 websites, which had indulged in spreading rumours on her.
According to Cybercrime additional DCP Raghuveer, a separate team was formed to enquire into the bad propaganda against Sharmila and get information from Facebook and Youtube.
He said that the police were not only enquiring about who had posted the videos, but also the actual people behind the website owners and their links with top people. He is hopeful of completing enquiry within 15 days.
