In a big disappointment for the pro-Telangana groups and people of the region, Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on Wednesday announced that the preparation of draft Telangana Bill had been put off and it would not come up before the Union Cabinet on Thursday.
Shinde told media after a prolonged meeting of Group of Ministers in New Delhi to finalise the draft Bill that the GoM meeting was inconclusive as several issues still needed to be sorted out before taking a final decision.
He said the GoM would hold a few more meetings before finalizing the draft Bill.
Asked when the Telangana Bill would come up before the Cabinet, Shinde said he won’t be able to come out with any such deadline.
“I will inform you in advance when the Telangana Bill would be discussed in the Cabinet,” he said.
