Before 2014 elections, the major slogan of the Telugu Desam Party was: “Job kaavalante Babu raavali” (If you want job, vote for Babu). And the people voted Babu to power, but forget about new jobs, even those who were already employed are losing their jobs.
Take this example: There were as many as 70 software employees working on contract basis in AP Space Application Centre in Hyderabad. Their job was to provide software applications for several works like fibre grid, Neeru-Chettu and watershed development.
During the Hudhud cyclone, they played a major role in assessing the damage in Visakhapatnam, including damage to houses, electric lines and communication systems.
And last week, the Space Application Centre downed its shutters and got shifted to Vijayawada lock, stock and barrel. The 70-odd contract engineers had no clue as to what had happened and what would be their fate. Since they are not regular employees, they could not be transferred. Despite making several pleas to the government, there was none to take care of them.
That is Babu regime!
